Cobrey packhouse was built in 2005 and has been regularly updated to become one of the largest and most advanced asparagus and soft fruit grading and packing facilities in the UK. The highest standards are recognised by an A-grade accreditation by the BRC (British Retail Consortium), Tesco TFMS, M&S Field to Fork, and the Soil Association organic standards.

The latest equipment and bespoke electronic traceability and quality control software ensure the highest quality standards are maintained whilst achieving the maximum pack-out. Funding for this facility has been received through the Rural Development Program for England.

Pack-house

• 8,500 tonnes of cold storage, primarily for potatoes but also essential during the asparagus season to guarantee maximum product freshness and shelf life, without the need for post harvest chemicals.
• Grain storage for 2,500 tonnes
• Potato grading lines capable of cleaning and split sizing 500 tonnes of potatoes every day.
• A water treatment plant processes all the wastewater from the site, producing good quality water that is stored for irrigation through the summer months.
